If you want to make clothes
without the use of a commercial sewing patterns,
you will need to learn how to draft your own.
This course will help you to master the process
and principles of pattern drafting.
This intensive workshop will
teach you how to draft a trouser pattern and then
construct the toile (a garment made from calico
used to check the fit of a pattern). You must
kinow how to thread a sewing machine and sew in
a straight line in order to enrol on this course.
If you have never used a sewing machine, please
complete the sewing
machine basics course prior to applying for
this workshop.
On completion of this workshop,
you can then attend the Beginners
Trouser Making workshop, where you can then
make minor alterations to your trouser block and
construct the trouser using fabric of your choice.
This course will teach you
how to:
Take
measurements correctly
Draft a trouser block
Construct darts
Insert a zip
Sew
and finish seams
draft facings or waistbands
Things to bring: Shears/fabric
scissors, tape measure, box of pins, ruler, rubber,
fine pencil, paper scissors, calulator, dressmakers
tracing wheel, and a seam ripper.

All courses take place at Unit
K103, The Biscuit Factory, Tower Bridge Business
Complex, 100 Clements Road, London, SE16 4DG unless
otherwise stated. The nearest tube station is
Bermondsey on the Jubilee line.
Booking Terms:
All bookings must be paid for
in full at time of booking. If you do not
wish to pay online, then you may do so by sending
a cheque. Your place will not be confirmed
until the cheque has been received and payment
cleared. Please contact us should you wish
to pay by this method.
All fees are non-refundable
in the event that you are unable to attend.
You may however be transferred onto another course
or to the same course on a different date (subject
to places being available).
Classes are limited to 10 students
and at least 3 students are needed to make a class.
In the event of under-subscription, classes may
be cancelled or postponed. We will give
you as much notice as possible should this happen
and you will be able to transfer to another
course or a receive full refund. We will
not be held liable for any out-of-pocket expenses
incurred as a result.
